His commitment to protecting others, mentoring younger firefighters, and serving his community defined his professional life.
Troy “Mac” Hohenberger, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, entered his Lord’s kingdom on October 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Brawley, California, on May 6, 1959, Mac was the son of Troy Willie Hohenberger and Theresa Mae (McBurnett) Hohenberger, who instilled in him the values of faith, service, and devotion that shaped his life.
Mac devoted nearly three decades to the Argyle Fire Department, rising through the ranks to serve as Fire Chief. His commitment to protecting others, mentoring younger firefighters, and serving his community defined his professional life. Mac was blessed to share his life with two wonderful wives. He married Pamela Meadows on November 4, 1983, in Denton, Texas. Together, they built a loving home until her passing on March 18, 2009. In 2011, Mac married Karla Martin, who remained his loving wife and companion throughout their life together.
Mac is survived by his cherished wife, Karla; his sons, Bret, Brice, and Brady Hohenberger; his stepsons, Aaron and Lance Martin; and his grandchildren, Kathleen Conway, Gavin and Colton Hohenberger, and Carson, Gage Hohenberger, Khi, and AJ Martin, who all brought him immense pride and joy.
Mac was one of six siblings. He is survived by his sister, Sheila, her three sons, and the memory of her late husband, Thomas Berkshire; his brother Arthur Hohenberger, his wife, Judy, and their son; and his brother James Hohenberger, his wife, Penny, and their four children. Mac was preceded in death by his brothers Fred and Jack Hohenberger. Fred’s wife, Carrie, survives him.
Mac’s extended family includes many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives whom he loved dearly and who remained an important part of his life. Mac was welcomed into heaven by his first wife, Pamela; his parents; his grandparents; his brothers; and many other cherished family members.
Mac will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him
