Vaughn Wayne Meador, 80, of Denton went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the family farm near Bokchito , Oklahoma . He was born July 16, 1936 in Argyle to Robert Leonard Meador and Annie Lucinda Vaughn Meador. He graduated from Denton High School and married Gene Foster, his high school sweetheart and love of his life, in 1956, in Argyle. Vaughn accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior when he was 16 years old, and he faithfully served his church for more than 60 years. He was a member and a Deacon at Highland Baptist Church in Denton . He and Gene owned and worked together running Meador Nursery for 30 years. He was a 2nd generation Meador to run the business. Vaughn had recently retired from Meador Nursery. When Vaughn was just a kid, he loved trapping and selling the hides. He taught himself taxidermy through a correspondence course, and when he and Gene were first married, he started his own Taxidermy business that he enjoyed for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, and vacationing in Colorado .
Vaughn is survived by his wife of 61years, Gene Meador of Denton , sons, Ted and wife Wendy Meador of Denton , Tim Meador of Astana , Kazakhstan , a sister, Juanita Baker of San Antonio and two grandchildren, Miles and Annie Meador. His 5 adopted Nigerian grandchildren are Cindy, Debbie, Willie, Stacy, Tracy, their mom Joy, and 5 great grandchildren. He also enjoyed his 2 adopted Chinese grandchildren, Amelia and Elisa and their parents Lisan and Amy Lin. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Norman , Foy, Alvin , Dayton and RL Meador, Melzora Barton, and Mildred Meador.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors for visitation on Friday, June 16th, from 6:00-8:00pm . Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17th, at 10:00 am at Highland Baptist Church , burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton .
