Vera Mae Clayton 74 of Justin passed away Saturday evening, August 26, 2017 at Longmeadow Care Center in Justin.  She was born May 29, 1943 in Quitman, TX to Barney "Dick" Carroll and Yvonne Roberts Carroll. She graduated from Quitman High School and attended Tyler Business School.

Vera married Jim Clayton on July 5, 1962 in Sulphur Springs, TX.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Justin.  Prior to her retirement she was the Court Clerk and Assistant City Secretary for the City of Justin.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.

Vera is survived by her husband Jim of Justin, daughter Jennifer Clayton of Justin, and James Monty Clayton and wife Andrea and children Jason Lee Clayton, Tami Michelle Clayton all of Quitman, sister Sandra St. Romain of Quitman.
