Obituary

Veronica Hope, 88, of Denton, passed away at home on October 9, 2022. Veronica was born to Grady and Estelle in Georgia. She graduated from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Atlanta and then sought nursing opportunities that allowed her to explore cities around the country. She moved to Dallas, where she met Paul Hope and enjoyed nearly 59 years of marriage.

After taking a break from nursing to raise children, Veronica held several positions in Denton, where the family moved in 1972, including as Director of Nursing at Denton Osteopathic Hospital.

Veronica is survived by daughter Ann Boodt; daughter and son-in-law Joan Hope and Thomas Bannister of Florida; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Adalgisa Hope; grandchildren Emily Bannister, Mary Bannister, Nathaniel Bannister, Isaac Boodt, Christopher Hope, and Jacob Hope; sister Mareice; and brothers Tommy, Mark, and Jimmy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hope; her parents; and siblings E.G., Henry, and Geneva.

Family and friends will remember Veronica for her sense of adventure, her infectious laugh, and her love for her family. Whether she was racing to beat one of her kids down a ski slope, riding a double loop roller coaster with grandchildren, or turning heads on the dance floor with her husband, her enthusiasm and enjoyment of life were obvious. She loved travel, reading, crafts, and gardening. But her favorite activity was having a good chat, and the harder everyone involved laughed, the better.
