Violet Lou Trevathan passed away peacefully at her home in Denton, Texas, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born in Denton on January 6, 1942, to Marion and Beatrice Ridgway, Violet remained a lifelong resident of the community she loved. On October 1, 1958, she married Dalton "Ray" Trevathan in Denton. They shared 46 wonderful years together before his passing in 2004.

Violet dedicated her life to caring for others. In her early years, she babysat children in her home, nurturing generations with warmth and patience. Later, she retired as a house parent from the Denton State School, where she touched many lives with her compassion and kindness.

A woman of simple joys and strong traditions, Violet loved reading, volunteering, and making her regular trips to the Dollar Tree. She especially took pride in honoring her loved ones by decorating their graves each year—a tradition she lovingly passed down to her daughter and granddaughter.

Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray; her parents; her sister, Lola James Whitson; and her brother, Marion Ridgway Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Rozalynn and husband Perry Ancell; her granddaughter, Brittany and husband Andrew Warner; and her great-grandson, Wyatt. She also leaves behind her brother, Ruben Ridgway and wife Mary, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Violet had a special place in her heart for dogs and lovingly adopted many over the years. She leaves behind her cherished companions, Tiger, Abby, and Josh.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hettie Puga and the Vitas Hospice staff for their dedicated and compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 A.M.

Violet's life was marked by care, generosity, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
