Virgie Mae Meeker Burrows of Denton passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 . Born in Tolar , Texas Virgie moved to Denton at an early age and lived in the country east of Denton for most of her young childhood years. She lived in and around Denton all of her life never forgetting her Cooper Creek Community roots or the childhood friends she made there. Until her death she held fond memories of her days with friends and classmates at the Cooper Creek School .
After Cooper Creek she attended Denton Public Schools graduating from Denton High. She then attended what is now U.N.T. She worked for ten years at radio station KDNT in Denton where she met and married her husband Pete. For the remainder of her working life she was employed by U.N.T. in the Research and Grants Department until her retirement.
Virgie enjoyed her leisure time by talking with everyone and making friends while shopping at the many Denton thrift stores and eating out.
A visitation for Virgie is scheduled for Monday, December 26, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at DeBerry Funeral Directors with interment immediately following the service at Cooper Creek Cemetery.
She is survived by her sister, Marie Brown and husband Tom of Duncanville, brother, Floyd Meeker and wife Janice of Denton and several nieces and nephews.
