Obituary

Virginia (Ginny) Kerr White, 86, of Denton passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 in Denton. She was born July 20, 1928 on her grandfather Kerr's farm in Rains County, Texas. Her parents were Margaret Burns Kerr and Henry Eli Kerr.

After graduating from high school, she attended business college in Dallas and was employed by the First National Bank in Dallas when she married Johnny Dale White on November 2, 1952. They lived in Pampa, TX for a few years before moving to Spearman, TX where they lived for forty years.

Ginny attended Frank Phillips College and Amarillo College. She worked in real estate for Nadine Crum Real Estate for a few years and after earning a Real Estate Broker's license, she opened Virginia White Real Estate in Spearman. She retired in 1998 when she and Johnny moved to Denton. She was a former member of the Texas Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Spearman for 40 years and had been a member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ since moving to Denton. She was a former member of the Denton Quilt Guild and was a former member of the Spearman Book Club, Bridge Club, Home Demonstration Club and Beta Sigma Phi.

Ginny enjoyed being with her family. She was an avid quilter. She enjoyed gardening. She loved exercising, the Arts, and her dog, Hank.

Ginny is survived by one daughter, Kathy Petterson and her husband, Randy of Sanger; one granddaughter, Erin and her husband Richard Raymer of Wiley. Ginny is also survived by one sister, Helen Jane Rodden and her husband Ray of Balch Springs; two brothers, Orvis Ray Kerr and wife Opal of Lake Fork, Jerrel D. Kerr of Mesquite; one aunt, Thelma Burns Ramsey of Greenville, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Ginny also leaves behind her faithful dog, Hank.

Visitation will be held at Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
