Wallace Mitchell Parker

Wallace Mitchell Parker went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in Denton, Texas. He was born to Olyn and Virginia Parker in Handley, Texas, on June 5, 1929. He married Naomi Wood on March 7, 1952, in Eastland, Texas. They were married 68 years.

Wallace spent 29 years in education. His career began as a classroom teacher in Aubrey, Texas, where he taught for 10 years. The next 19 years were spent with the Roaring Fork School District in Colorado, where he served as a principal, first at Basalt Schools and then at Carbondale Schools. He ended his career as assistant superintendent for the district.

Beyond his career in education, Wallace worked from 1949 to 1976 with his parents at Swiss Village Resort, near Redstone, Colorado. At first, only summers were spent in Colorado. But when Wallace married and had a family, he and his wife, Naomi, decided the family-owned resort would be a great place to live and raise their four daughters.

Colorado was the perfect fit for Wallace, who loved God’s creation—the beauty of four seasons; fishing and hunting; and adventures in four-wheel-drive vehicles, on horseback, or on foot—all shared with family and friends.

Wallace’s love for and commitment to our Lord was evident through his involvement at the Glenwood Springs Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 40 years. Not only was he available whenever and wherever and for whatever was needed at church, but also served his neighbors in the same way—a reliable friend and a willing handyman.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Olyn and Virginia Parker; his wife, Naomi Parker; and his sister, Wilma Mears. He will be missed by daughters Tris (Rob) Wilson of Aurora, Colorado; Penny (Bubba) Klostermann of Abilene, Texas; Cari (Larry) Derksen of Phoenix, Arizona; and Janna (Scott) Stegall of Argyle, Texas. He will also be missed by seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor Wallace's life will be held at the Singing Oaks Church of Christ, located at 101 Cardinal Drive, Denton, TX 76209, on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
