Walter Bauswell, 85, of Denton, Texas, passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born on May 20, 1940, in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Burl and Martha Bauswell. He was preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Bauswell, and sister, Annie Newport.
At the age of 18, Walter proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for 20 years, including three tours in Vietnam. His dedication and bravery were recognized with numerous honors, including the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnamese Technical Service Medal, and the Sharpshooter (Rifle) designation. Following his military retirement, Walter continued his career in the alarm industry, where he worked for 20 years before retiring once again.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Jackie Bauswell; daughter Malynn Wren and her husband Mike; son Chris Bauswell and his wife Karen; his cherished grandchildren Michael Wren (Erin), Michelle Hardy (Matt), Kathryn Bauswell, and Collin Bauswell; and his sister, Opal Tatum. He was also overjoyed by the arrival of his great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Walter will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to his country, and the pride he took in his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations In Memory of Walter Bauswell to the Tarrant Area Food Bank Donation .
