Walter Danielson, born December 30, 1927 in Wharton, New Jersey, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's and lung cancer on Friday, August 09, 2013 in Denton, Texas.
He received his M.E. from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1951, his M.S.A.E. from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1954 and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1962. He rose from Sergeant in the US Marine Corps to Lt. Col. In the US Air Force. He was a young advocate of the value of space operations, an early member of the Air Force Satellite Control Facility Network and served at tracking stations around the world. He taught engineering at Boston College in Brussels, Belgium, and he taught Imperial Ethiopian History at the Air Force Academy.
He commanded the Management Division for a five-nation consortium, manufacturing the F-16 aircraft in Europe for sale to Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, and the US. He served as Chief of R&D for the Military Advisory Group in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He retired as a Senior Engineer at Lockheed Martin Space and Missiles Corp and was a member of the Past Board of
Directors of the AFCEA. He enjoyed military history, reading, baseball, and travel. He was a wonderful caring person who never spoke ill of anyone. He was always kind, generous, loving and giving.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Paulette Danielson; his beloved daughter, Veronique Sudbeck and her husband Vincent; and cherished grandchildren, Justin Sudbeck and Ashley Sudbeck. He is preceded in death by his two sons, David Danielson and Marc Patrick Danielson; and his parents, Walter and Anne Danielson of Mount Arlington, New Jersey.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 15th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with visitation from 5:30 to 7:00 prior to the service. Burial will be at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia and he will be buried beside his beloved son, Marc Danielson.
