Obituary

Walton Russell Miller went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2012 in Denton, TX. He was born on May 4, 1919 in Williamsport, PA to Charles and Emille Miller.

Russell proudly served as a pilot in the United States Navy in World War II. He left the Navy as a Lieutenant in January of 1946. After leaving the Navy he returned to Juilliard where he received his Master of Arts degree. During his years as a solo violinist, he was asked to appear with symphonies across the country.

On September 5, 1950 he married the love of his life Carolyn Hallinan in Lewisburg, PA. Russell and his wife moved to Denton, TX shortly after, where he became a Professor of Music at the University of North Texas. He was a member of St. David of Wales Episcopal Church.

After retiring from North Texas, he became owner of Hurricane Fence Company from 1973-1996.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Carolyn Miller; a son, Jeffery Miller and wife Sharon of Sanger; 2 daughters, Cindy Knox and husband Stephen, and Sandra Strange both of Denton. He was blessed to have had 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 14, 2012 2:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors Chapel.
