Obituary

Wanda Jean Bothwell Moeller Mulkey, 89, of Denton, Texas, entered her heavenly home on October 2, 2025.

Born on July 28, 1936, in Navo, Texas (Denton County), Wanda was the beloved daughter of Roy and Peggy Bothwell. She graduated from Denton High School in 1954 and went on to live a life defined by faith, family, and friendship. Wanda was married to Johnny Moeller for 30 years and later to Charles Mulkey for 24 years, cherishing both marriages and the families they built together.

Above all else, Wanda was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a true prayer warrior, known for her unwavering Christian faith and her ability to make every person she met feel valued and loved. She had a remarkable gift for turning strangers into lifelong friends, always making others feel like she was their "best friend."

As Isaiah 42:16 reminds us: "And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not. I will lead them in paths that they have not known; I will make darkness light before them and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them and not forsake them."  Wanda's life reflected this promise as she faithfully walked with the Lord and helped others find His light.

Wanda's life was full of service and love. She taught children with dyslexia, offering patience and encouragement to those who needed it most. She was active in the Flourish Christian Women's Club, First Refuge, and Camp Copass, where her faith continued to flourish.

Her home was often filled with the aroma of her famous homemade rolls, chicken fried steak, biscuits, bread, and cakes. Wanda's cooking was not just food—it was a reflection of her generosity, love, and joy in bringing people together.

Wanda is survived by her children, Randy and Karen Moeller of Whitney, TX, and Ronnie and Greg Moeller of Denton, TX; her grandchildren, Kayce Moeller Grounds, Morgan Moeller Scoggin, Tymbre and Taryn Petersen; and her great-grandchildren, David and Gwen Grounds. She is also survived by her sisters Jane and Kenneth Keese and Tommye Vosburg Baker and her husband Dale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Peggy Bothwell; her husbands, Johnny Moeller and Charles Mulkey; siblings Jo Nell Farley, June and Garland Holley, and Ronnie Vosburg; and her niece Karen Farley Farrer and her husband Kim; and nephew, Mark Keese.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church (First Denton Church) in Denton, TX, 1100 Malone Street, Denton, TX 76201 at 1pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Burial will follow immediately at Roselawn Cemetery, 3801 Roselawn Drive, Denton, TX 76207. Visitation will be held at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 West University Drive, Denton, TX, with on October 10, 2025, from 5pm – 7pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Copass campcopass.com/donate or First Refuge Ministries dentonrefuge.org .

Wanda's life reflected her faith in Jesus Christ. One of her favorite sayings was, "Anything good in me is Jesus, and all the rest is Wanda Jean."

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and friendship. Her life was a living testimony of Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not into thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
