Obituary

Wanda Lou (Welch) Luebke, 76, of Hood, TX a loving and faithful wife, sister and mother, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 5th. Wanda was born in Cooke County on January 12th, 1937. Wanda grew up in Hood. She lettered in basketball and graduated from Era High School in 1955. Wanda was the Sunday School Secretary at the Hood Methodist Church. Soon there after graduation, she met John F. Luebke, whom she later married on December 27th, 1957.

In 1959 they moved to Oregon where they had pastoral responsibility for 10 churches over the span of 22 years. They relocated back to Wanda's hometown, Hood, TX in 1983. She soon began working at the Denton State School. There she was promoted to supervisor. Wanda received recognition for her outstanding service and dedication. She retired after 22 years. Wanda and John have resided in Hood ever since.

On Wednesday, January 8th, visitation will be from 1PM to 2PM, with funeral services being held at 2PM, on the same day. Visitation and funeral services will be at the DeBerry Funeral Directors with Wanda's first cousin, Rev. Rich McGee officiating. Burial will follow at the Sanger Cemetery.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 56 years, John F. Luebke of Hood; children, Mark Luebke and wife Sue of Cedar Hill, Richard Luebke of Washington, Michael Luebke and wife Misty of Terrell. Nine grandchildren; Angeleen, Nathan, Rochelle, Jeanette, Joshua, Shasta, Dallas, Tiffany and Jasmyn. Eight great-grandchildren. Sister, Patricia (Welch) Hammons and husband Leroy of Krugerville. Brother, C.W. Welch Jr., and wife Sue of Wylie. Four nieces: Lou Ann, Brandi, Kristi, and Marilyn. Two nephews: Allen and Bryan.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Cecil and Ola (Tucker) Welch of Hood, TX and youngest sister Elaine Herr of Denton and her nephew Charles Mitchell of Ft Worth.

She was a member of the Hood Community Club and the Era Methodist Church.

Wanda was a spring of generosity, selfless service, extreme patience, and was always reflecting the love of Christ to all.
