Wanda Lou Nation, 87, of Denton passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Corinth Rehabilitation Suites. She was born May 19, 1938, to Ben William Hodges and Ruby Ann Rogers Hodges in Leon, Oklahoma.
She retired from the Denton State School, where she was a cook for the residents. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed playing bingo, visiting with children, grandchildren, and especially enjoyed seeing her great-grandchildren. After she became disabled and could no longer walk, she enjoyed going out for shopping and dining. She also loved to watch the birds and squirrels fight over the bird feeder on her patio.
Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10:30am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Tammy Craddock from Copperas Cove, Texas, Mary Nation from Waxahachie, Texas, son, Jack Nation from Denton, Texas, brothers, John Thomas (Ora Lee) Hodges and Samuel David (Barbra) Hodges, both from Amarillo, Texas, 16 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Louise Mullins and Rachel Wheaton, brothers Bennie Hodges and William Hodges, and son James Nation.
