Wanda Lee (Smith) Wilson of Denton, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her loving family as they sang her favorite Bible songs and hymns, and at 2:59pm, she opened her eyes, smiled, and took her Savior's hand. Her family is greatly comforted knowing that she is at last reunited with her beloved husband, Lindon H. Wilson.
Wanda was born in Denton County on November 15, 1928, in Aubrey, Texas, at the home of her parents, Roy Mitchell Smith and Velma Lee (Wilkerson) Smith. Wanda graduated from Aubrey High School and went on to business college. She began working as an executive secretary after graduation.
Wanda married the love of her life, Lindon Houston Wilson, on her birthday, November 15, 1945, in Denton, Texas, within weeks of his return from military service in World War II. They spent many happy and successful years together serving God, running a construction company, and raising a large, loving family. Lindon preceded Wanda in death on February 7, 2016, at the age of 96.
Wanda's extended family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday night, January 20, 2022, from 5pm until 7pm for visitation. Wanda's Celebration of Life Service will be Friday morning at 10am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W University Dr., Denton, TX 76201. She will then be laid to rest next to her husband at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Wanda Wilson is survived by her children: Pamela Meserve, Lindon Wilson Jr., LeAnn Squier, and Stephen Wilson; her daughters-in-law: Donna and Mikayla Wilson; her sons-in-law: John Squier and Roy Meserve; her grandchildren (and spouses): Sarah (& Dereck), Randi, Joshua, Jake (& Ellen), Holly (& Ross), Abbie (& Max), Annie, Maxx and Xander; and her beloved great grandchildren: Gabriel, Micah, Brooks, Tate, and Jonah.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Velma Smith, her brothers Buddy, Larry and Billy-Jack, and her sister Nadine. She is survived by her dear brother Robert G. Smith Jr. and his wife, Carol Smith.
