IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wesley John
Bryant
July 19, 1977 – August 14, 2025
He died with his boots on…
Wesley (Wes) John Bryant passed peacefully at his mother's home after a kiss and an "I love you" from his beloved daughter, Rosie, on Thursday, August 14th, 2025.
He was born in July 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the loving father to Rose Marie Bryant of Sanger and was a dear friend to Rose's partner, Ragan. He was a precious son to his mother, Carole Scanlon of Denton, and father, Ricky Bryant Sr. of Sanger. Wes was an adventurous partner in anything hunting, fishing, or cars with his brother Ricky Bryant Jr. (Tina) of Sanger; a I-got-this-cool-new-thing-but-can't-get-the-darn-thing-to-work tech enthusiast to his tech-savvy sister Kara Scanlon of Denton; and a happy-go-lucky little brother to his oldest sister, Patty Scanlon Stovall of Ponder.
He is survived by his daughter, parents, siblings, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will feel his absence profoundly.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his stepfather, and his father's life partner.
Wesley was a warrior, pure and simple. Once the cancer metastasized, his doctors weren't optimistic, and they gave him anywhere from three months to a year left to live. But Wes must have heard years instead of months, because he surpassed his doctors' expectations and, for three more years, fought death like he lived life–with his whole heart. He fought through surgeries, radiation treatments, and several types of chemotherapy–he fought until all he had left was his grit and determination. His motto became "Cancer can kick rocks and come find me with my boots on."
He lived his life to the fullest every single day: he was always cooking up a new project for one of his cars; lived off the land–always hunting, fishing and camping; kept his gold mining pans and sifters ready for any mining escapades; made friends with plenty of nature's critters, including his pond's catfish who he did his best to feed daily; and went on wild adventures with enough thrills, chills and Looney Tunes mishaps to give his favorite comedic duo, Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner, a run for their money.
He did his best to make every moment count and put all his love into anything and everything he cared about. And, of course, he loved his family and–most especially–his girls.
The family would like to thank the Entire VNA Ann's Haven hospice team. Wesley's journey would have been very, very different without their professional care, concern, and love from the staff. We are and will always be forever grateful for each and every one of them.
There will be a celebration of Wesley's life to be announced at a later date through social media and word of mouth. It will be at his most favorite place… his beloved pond.
