Wiley Edward Yates, 84 of Argyle, Texas passed away March 30, 2025 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. He was born October 14, 1940 to Walter and Harriet Severn Yates in Elkhorn, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Harriet Yates, brothers Wade and Cecil Yates.

He married Mary Dorothy Waichulis on August 6, 1960, in Alexandria, Virginia.

He worked in the electronics field at Melpar and AMF prior to joining the Navy in August 1966. He served two terms in Vietnam on the USS Joseph Strauss and the USS Galveston. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for TWA Airlines at Dulles Airport and then for American Airlines at Dulles Airport and then at Dallas/Ft. Worth airport where he worked as a Fleet Service Clerk, until he retired in December 2002.

He and Mary enjoyed traveling with the Good Sams RV Club and made many friends who became more like family. They enjoyed attending the Music Festivals in Grove, Oklahoma, twice a year, and the family reunions at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Yearly, they traveled back to Princeton, WV to visit brother Wade, and their Gaspersich family. They always had their pets with them, Bonnie, Roxy, Whiskers and Toby. He enjoyed riding his tractor and mowing the lawn, it had to be perfect!

He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboy games, win or lose.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Saturday, April 5th from 3 to 5:00 p.m. for a visitation. A funeral service will be in Fairfax, Virginia and burial will take place in Falls Church, Virginia on April 9, 2025.

Wiley is survived by his wife Mary D. Yates of Argyle, Texas, sister Gail Pack of Lakeland, Florida, brother Walter Yates and wife Marrian of Klondike, Texas and brother Daniel Yates and wife Robin of Unionville, Virginia and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
