IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Keith
Barnett
December 13, 1945 – March 17, 2026
William “Bill” Keith Barnett, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, with his wife of twenty-five years, Kathleen, by his side.
Bill was born on December 13, 1945, in Marfa, Texas, to Herman Keith Barnett and Bobbie Marie Ward Barnett. As a child, he spent cherished time in Dublin, Texas, where his grandparents lived—an experience that sparked his lifelong love of Dr. Pepper.
Known for his quick wit and infectious smile, Bill brought joy and warmth to those around him. He was happiest when serving others, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Bill proudly served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery and dedication. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of North Texas, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and Finance.
Throughout his professional life, Bill worked as a Certified Public Accountant, contributing his expertise as an accountant and controller to several firms and serving as US Controller for two international companies. Even after retirement, his strong work ethic and love for people led him to spend eight years as a Sales Associate at Home Depot, where he continued to make meaningful connections.
Above all, Bill was devoted to his family. He was the proud father of six children: David (Becky Jo), Karen Elliott (Eric), Rebecca Barnett, Susanna Weyburn (Aaron), Joseph Barnett (Karen), and Ginny Staples (Preston). He was also a loving stepfather to eight children: Kristin Lee (Eric), Adam Biggs, W. Travis Biggs, Brandon Biggs (Nicole), Katherine Secrest (Aaron), Laura Biggs, Claire Carter (Matthew), and Benjamin Biggs. He is also survived by his sister, Vicki Barnett Kotrla (Don).
Bill’s legacy lives on through his 32 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply and treasured beyond measure.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, David.
He will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the light he brought into the lives of others. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Daily Bread in Denton, Texas, in honor of Bill’s generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
