Obituary

William Martin Stewart ("Wild" Bill), 67, of Denton, passed away on July 27, 2016 in Denton, Texas.

Bill was born in Pilot Point, Texas to Luella Howarth on July 30, 1948. He grew up in Texas with his adoptive parents Eugene and Martha Stewart, attending W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas and University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He entered the United States Air Force at age 19 and served for 4 years. Upon discharge, he began a life long career in law enforcement, 25 years as a DPS Trooper with the state of Texas and 18 years as an Investigator with the Denton County District Attorney's office. He finished his illustrious career as a commissioned Special Ranger with DPS. He was a devoted father and faithful friend. He always took the time to listen, and was always there for anyone in need. An avid outdoorsman, Bill loved hunting and fishing. He loved to socialize and never went anywhere without bumping into a friend.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Martha Stewart, Sister Eugena Moreno and Nephew Anthony Moreno.

Bill is survived by his niece Julie Platter and husband Sam of Mesquite, TX, Brother in law Richard Moreno of Mesquite, TX, Sisters Susan Brooks and Nancy Carr of Bartlesville, OK and Mother Luella Howarth of Bartlesville, OK.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 pm Friday, July 29, 2016 at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 West University Denton, TX 76201

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Bowden officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, 12649 Lake June Rd, Mesquite, TX 75180. Arrangements are by DeBerry Funeral Directors, Denton, TX.

Pallbearers will be Tony Paul, Michael Dickens, Brian Wolfe, Joe Erwin, Troy Nivens, Casey Finke, Mike Sparby and Kyle Dean.

Memorials in Bill's name may be given to the Denton County Children's Advocacy Center, 1854 Cain Dr, Lewisville, TX 75077.
