William (Bill) Carl Day, 71 of Denton, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Denton, Texas. Bill was born on March 12, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Carl Wesley and Mildred Alma (Hill) Day. He married Billie Parker on May 23, 1964 in Midland, Texas.

Bill and his family came to Denton in September of 1993 to achieve his life-long dream of owning a hardware store. That dream came true when he and his family purchased the Ace Hardware store on University Drive. Even though he was new to the area, he quickly made friends due to his smiling face and personable nature. Bill never met a stranger, and when he met you, he told you a story to make you laugh. And after 25 years, Bill knew most of his customers by name and everyone came to know Bill. Over that time, Bill has employed hundreds of local residents as well as many college students – and always attempted to help them better themselves. He never wanted to hold anyone back so when better opportunities arose, he was always willing to give a reference and help them get the job. He spent his professional life before coming to Denton traveling the state of Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico calling on hardware stores as a salesman. Bill was a lifelong outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, exploring, running and just enjoying the outdoors.

William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Billie Parker Day, son, Barry Day, brother, Ronald W. Day and his wife Barbara, their daughters and grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Vicki Day.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred Day and brother, Larry S. Day.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors, Denton, Texas with refreshments and conversation afterwards at Luigi's off University Dr.
