William Albert "Al" Eberhart, 81
Al Eberhart was called home on January 27, 2014 in Denton TX.
Al was born in Atlanta GA. On June 20, 1932 to Frances (Brooks) and Hubert Eberhart. He grew up in Anderson, South Carolina and graduated from Anderson High School in 1949. He married Sarah Helen Laughridge in 1950. He attended William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA and Clemson University in Clemson, SC.
He worked as an insurance agent in SC and TX and eventually purchased his own agency in Raymondville, TX. Al later joined his daughter and son-in-law Claudia and Marc in Denton, TX where he worked in a family business and later for FEMA until 2008. Al was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Denton, Texas.
Al is survived by his daughter Cathy Nelson of Houston, daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Marc Brown of Denton, and daughter and son-in-law, Caren and David Ghiselin of Port Lavaca; 6 granddaughters, 4 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons, a sister Claudia McCurry of Mercer, PA, niece Fran and husband Ed Lancaster of Mercer, PA, sister-in-law Agnes Eberhart of Spartanburg, SC, nephew Paul Eberhart and wife Beth of Spartanburg, SC, and the mother of his children, Helen Eberhart, of Houston, TX.
A note from his daughter: Dad told me several years ago that he had lived a very full life and was a lucky man to have lived, traveled, and had so many great experiences. He said he had no complaints. So Dad, I bid you farewell, Love, Claudia.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday February 1, 2014, at 3 pm Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 West University.
