William A.
Stockstill
March 15, 1938 – November 20, 2018
William Absalom Stockstill, 80, of Denton, TX was surrounded by his family when he left his earthly home on Tuesday, 11/20/18.
Bill (as he was called by all but his Mom) is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy; daughters, Tammy (Mike) Boudreaux, Terre (Chuck) Boepple, Candice (Kyle) Atterberry, and son Randy (Robin) Stockstill; brother Harold (Hazel) Stockstill. Family was so very important to him and he was so very proud of his grandkids Zac (Nicole) Atterberry, Will Atterberry, Abagail and Philip Boepple, Hannah and John Boudreaux, Kaitlyn and Caid Stockstill, and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He was born in Copan, OK on March 15, 1938 and later the family moved to Yukon, OK where he learned to work at a very young age. The owner of the local hardware store took him under his wing and his love for fixing things began - tv's, cars, radios whatever the need – and later when he worked at the Texaco while attending Oklahoma City University his true love for cars (that would last a lifetime) was born. He met the love of his life in middle school and married Dorothy Ann Weber on September 12, 1958. He was an involved father – coaching and volunteering in their events throughout the years. He was liked by everyone and was known to be a tough but highly respected boss. He began as an industrial engineer living all over the country then retiring after 20+ years at Rockwell International in Tulsa and later moving to Dallas, TX as Sr. VP of LTV. He rubbed elbows with military Generals, NASA and other high-level aerospace executives in his career, however, family and friends were the center of his world. He loved attending and watching any sporting event – especially his loved OU football team – was an avid reader, a deacon for Lakeland Baptist, served in many capacities at Southmont Baptist, was a volunteer at Denton Regional hospital and always enjoyed a good meal. He had restored a 1953 Chevy pickup and was a proud member of Pickups and Panels and had won many awards for his truck, however, his contributions and commitment to helping others through this organization was his mission. His passion was people and he could talk to anyone, but his wife was the highlight of his days. The 2 of them had just celebrated 60 years of marriage with close friends and family in October.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Treva and father, Chester.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 11/27 at 1:00pm at the Southmont Baptist Church at 2801 Pennsylvania Dr in Denton, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through pickupsnpanels.org where donations go to the American Cancer Society where he was an avid supporter.
