Willie Mabel Sherman, 89, of Sanger, Texas passed away in the early morning of March 25, 2013. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 in the Chapel of Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2:00 pm. It is located at 2025 W. University Dr. in Denton, Texas.
Mabel was born in Iowa Park, Texas in February of 1924 to Susie and Roy Carlton. She grew up with two brothers, Leroy and Don and a sister, Helen. After graduating high school and developing her secretarial skills, she soon joined up in the US Army Air Force to serve her country and there met the love of her life, Roger. They married while both were still in the Service after a short engagement and were married for 57 years until Roger passed away in 2002.
She concerned herself with caring for and serving others through her many roles such as: wife, mother, Vocational Nurse, ministering in the Church of Religious Science with husband, Rev. Roger Sherman and being a friend and neighbor to many. She had a special fondness for our veterans and these still serving in the military throughout the world.
She is survived by her daughter, three grandchildren, a great grandchild, a brother and a sister and several others of her extended family. In place of flowers, donation may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
