Winston Franklin "Frank" Mayhew, 80, of Denton, passed away on December 2, 2022, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born on April 12th, 1942, in Mayflower, Arkansas, to Pete N. and Delcia Stephens Mayhew. He served four years in the US Navy as a Navy Corpsman with the 3rd Marine Division in Vietnam.
Frank married Shelby Sue Lea on September 6, 1963, in Sparkman, Arkansas.
He received his Bachelor's Degree from SAU, Magnolia, Arkansas. He was a teacher and football coach in Marshall, Tx, then spent 28 years working for the railroad. In 2001 he earned a Master's Degree from TWU. He then taught at TWU, NCTC, and became a History Professor at Collin College, McKinney, TX, where he retired after ten years.
A celebration of life will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 8th.
Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shelby Lea Mayhew, sons Pete F. and Paul E. Mayhew, Granddaughter Lauren Curfman, Brother James T. Mayhew, sister-in-law Kathy Mayhew and sister Winnie Hunter.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Gary Mayhew.
