IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wyletta Beth
Brown
May 16, 1939 – March 7, 2024
Wyletta Beth (Sims) Brown, 84, of Mesquite, TX passed away peacefully the evening of March 07, 2024. She was surrounded by family and so much love as she transitioned into Heaven. There to meet Wyletta was her husband, Ron; her eldest daughter, April; her grandson, Adam; her parents, Jessie and Bill, her father Huckleberry; and her brother, Jack.
Wyletta Beth Sims was born in New Edinburg, AR on May 16, 1939, to Samuel Alfred and Jessie Mae Sims. She graduated from Carlisle High School (Henderson, TX) in 1957.
Wyletta married the love of her life, Ronald Lee Brown, on August 22, 1959, in San Antonio, TX. They met on a blind date and were engaged 3 months later. Ron and Wyletta were married for 63 years. They shared a love of traveling and explored many places together throughout the world.
Wyletta was a phone operator at Southwestern Bell and held accounting positions during her career.
Wyletta was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church for 46 years, and then attended Gracepointe Church in Denton, TX. Wyletta loved God with her whole heart. Even when she no longer remembered how to swallow, Wyletta still remembered how to pray, and she remembered all of the words to the old hymns. On the day that she passed, Wyletta was singing "I'll Fly Away".
Wyletta's greatest joy was her family. As the matriarch, she loved and guided her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and patience as she taught them life lessons and showed her family what was truly important in life. Wyletta embodied the sacrificial type of love that mothers have for their children. The impact that Wyletta had on her family is immeasurable.
Wyletta is survived by her daughter Lisa Rene' Simmons and husband Joseph; son Andrew Carstarphen and wife Debbie; grandson Bryan Hasley and wife Claire; grandson Matthew Carstarphen and wife Amy; grandson Ransom Simmons; great-grandchildren Hunter Hasley, Hallie Hasley, Brylee Simmons, and a new great-grandchild on the way; sister Mary Ann Chester; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Lanette Burks; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Debby Burks; sister-in-law Peggy Sandell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janne and Butch Nichols; sister-in-law Pauline Brown; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Wyletta is also survived by her bonus daughters Donna Gail Feverston and Heidi Copes Orris.
Wyletta was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Lee Brown; parents, Jessie Mae and William H Burks; father, Samuel Alfred Sims; eldest daughter April Dawn Carstarphen; grandson Adam Scott Hasley; grandson Brandon Simmons; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Alice Sims; brother-in-law Larry Brown; brother-in-law Jimmie Sandell.
Special heartfelt thanks to Solaris Hospice: Shirley, Courtney, Farzana, Shelly, Kelly, Jeremy, Traci – the entire Solaris team has been incredible. Thank you for loving Wyletta.
Wyletta's legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Wyletta lived fully and loved deeply and sacrificially. She was a great example to all of us. We will all deeply miss her powerful love, her strength, and her stubbornness. Alzheimer's disease is quite challenging. We're so thrilled that Wyletta is whole again, no longer suffering from the bonds of it.
