Yoshiko (Takenaka) Jackson, died peacefully at her Denton home on April 15, 2015. Born in Kyoto, Japan, August 3, 1926 to Shin and Otokichi Takenaka, she was the youngest of five children. In 1954 she married native Texan, Allen G. Jackson and started her life as a career Army wife. She was a devout Buddhist, practicing Nichiren Buddhism since1960 as a member of Soka Gakkai International (SGI) and was awarded the Distinguished Pioneer Award for her continued efforts to further the SGI ideals of peace, culture and education.
Her brother, parents, two sisters, and her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Hana, two daughters, Patricia Edwards (husband, Don), and Marie Goldner (husband Steve), and two granddaughters, Danielle and Christina.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 3-5:00 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Graveside Services will be held at a later date.
