Obituary

Joyce Yvonne "Bon Bon" Cole, long time Denton resident, passed away on August 16, 2017. Yvonne was a loving, gracious, talented, and faith-filled woman who bravely endured Alzheimer's disease for twenty-five years.

She was born Joyce Yvonne Clark on March 13, 1931 in Galveston, Texas to the late Ted Carvel Clark and Clara Esther Voris. She grew up in Alvin, Texas. In high school, she was a drum major, voted class favorite, a member of the Yearbook Staff, and a talented vocalist and pianist. After graduating high school two years early, Yvonne attended Texas Women's University and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology.

During her senior year, she met Bobby Frank Cole, the love of her life. Bobby was the son of M.T. and Jonnie "Mammy" Cole, also longtime Denton residents. Bobby and Yvonne married June 6th, 1950, and resided on their ranch in Argyle, Texas. She is survived by: Amy Lynn Cole Griffin, James Howard Cole, Kathryn Ann Cole Jeffrey and husband Tony Jeffrey, Mary Elizabeth Cole Uland, Bryan Edward Cole and wife Kathy, and Matthew Clark Cole. She has fifteen grand children: Ryan Walker Griffin, Lauren Elizabeth Griffin Thorsen, Amanda Leigh Griffin Lindsay, Anthony Cole Jeffrey, Andrew Clark Jeffrey, Anna Catherine Jeffrey, Meredith Yvonne Uland, Robert Lincoln Uland, Joseph Albright Uland, Lydia Aileen Uland, Margaret Rose Uland, Joyce Eleanor Uland, Victor Arden Uland, Rachael Bryanna Cole, and Raegan Michelle Cole. She has five great grand children: Garrett Bennett Griffin, Taylor Rose Griffin, Seth Haden Arnold, Michael Robert Lindsay, and Elizabeth Lauren Lindsay. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Clark and his wife Angie and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her son-in-law Mike Griffin.

When not raising children and being a homemaker, Yvonne loved studying the Bible, singing and playing the piano, travel, classic movies, cooking and Jeopardy!! She was also active in Bible Study Fellowship and church ministry. She will be remembered for her joy, hospitality, and Christian philanthropy.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center, 521 North Locust, Denton, Texas 76201.

Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 West University Drive 76201, Friday, August 18th, from 6 to 8pm. A memorial service will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home, Saturday, August 19th, beginning at 10:30am.
