Zan Chappell Webb, 90, passed away on May 18, 2017, in Denton, TX. She was born in Mabank, TX, on August 8, 1926, to Alexander and Willie Smith Chappell.
Zan married Donald D. Webb on August 18, 1945, after his return from WWII. She moved to Denton in 1947, where she was employed by the Allen Butane Co. for several years. But it was while serving as receptionist for Dr. Frank Blake, that she met and befriended so many kind people during her almost 50 years of employment.
Zan Webb will be remembered for her elegant gardens and landscaping, her bridge game, and the amassing, along with her husband, of one of the finest collections of Flow Blue China in the country. But, best of all,was the love and care shown by her to the many adopted stray dogs and cats that found their way to Zan's back yard.
She was proceeded in death by: parents, Alexander and Willie Smith Chappell; brother, A.J. Chappell; and sisters, Jane Sharp and Marcelle Holon.
Zan Webb is survived by: her husband of 71 years, Donald D. Webb; brother-in-law, Lloyd Gayle Webb; niece, Priscilla Campbell; nephews, Will Holon and Terry Webb; and great-nieces, Jennifer Maedgen, Hillary Donohu andAshley White.
Visitation will take place at DeBerry Funeral Director's on Wednesday, May 24th, from 6:00-8:00PM. A graveside service will take place at the Kaufman Cemetery, Kaufman, TX, on May 25th at 2:00PM, with Dr. Robert L. Webb officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be directed to the Denton Animal Support Foundation or a charity of choice.
