Denton, TX – Zenia Ruth White Evans passed away to be with her Lord at the age of 90 on Nov. 27, 2012.
SERVICE:
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, Dec. 1 at St. Stephen's Methodist Church, 2003 West 43rd Street, Houston, TX where she was an active church member for over 50 years. Graveside service follows at South Park Cemetery at 1310 N. Main St, Pearland, TX.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1922 in Fredonia, KS to Judson and Lenora Hillix White. She moved from Fredonia to Wichita to attend Wichita Business School and shortly thereafter joined many of her friends at Boeing Aircraft where she actively worked to place returning soldiers in their post-war positions at Boeing Aircraft after WWII. Following the war she moved to Houston, TX and met Russell Dean Evans, whom she joined in a marriage in 1947 that lasted 45 years, ending in Russell's death in 1992.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Rutledge of Spring, TX and Shirley Oxendine of Fort Worth, TX and their husbands, Charles Rutledge and Tom Oxendine; her grandchildren, Paula Kelm and husband Mike of Shiro, TX, Denise Stalcup and her husband Steve of Conroe, TX, Chip Oxendine and his wife Christine of Denton, TX, Scott Oxendine and his wife Pam of Coppell, TX and Jessica Oxendine and her husband Chris Ott of Denton, TX. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, MASN Kale Evans Pemberton serving in the United States Navy and his wife Holly, Devin Propes and Andrew Stalcup of Conroe, TX, Emily and Eric Oxendine, Denton, TX and Chloe and Claire Oxendine of Coppell, TX.
Ruth is also survived by her sister, Goldena Ware of Waco Texas and is preceded in death by her brothers Ernie White of Wichita, KS, George White of Sacramento, CA, Jim White of Edna, TX, Don White of Hurst, TX, and Edna Ritchey of Houston, TX.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her as she dedicated her life to her family and friends and their well-being.
