Jeryl C. Golden, 56, of Denton, left this world and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on May 6, 2017. Jeryl was born in Paris, Tennessee on August 24, 1960 to Jack and Regina (Pryor) Golden. Jeryl graduated from Denton High School and attended McMurry College. He married Donna Parker on June 20, 1980 in Sherman, Texas. Jeryl was a Sergeant with the Denton Police Department.

The joy of Jeryl's life was being with his family, especially his granddaughters; reading to them, kicking the soccer ball with them, simply being in their presence. He also loved coaching the offensive line for the Dallas Defenders, a semi-pro football team made up of police officers, firefighters and other first responders from all over the metroplex.
He possessed a deep love for his police family. He was an avid golfer, an exceptional 1st baseman, a music aficionado, a purveyor of genius ideas, a loyal, devoted and dependable friend, and above all, kind, gentle and courageous.
With his actions, he taught his family to be gracious. With his soul, he taught all to take care of each other and to show love whenever possible.
As one person said, "Jeryl left this world better than he found it."

He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughter, Chelsea Layne Chapman and husband Trevor of Allen, Texas, son, Clayton Parker Golden and wife Kellie of Denton, his mother and father, Jack and Regina Golden, sister Lisa Golden Smart and husband Philip of Dresden, TN. His grandchildren; Laila Grace Chapman, Lydia Kate Chapman, Stella Sloan Golden and Iris Vesper Golden.

The family will receive friends on Thursday night from 6-8 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton. Funeral services will be held at Denton Bible Church on Friday at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
