Obituary

Born on September 5th,1942 in Bryan TX, Oliver John Lopez was the second child of Joe Lopez Sr and Lena Garcia. John had four siblings, older brother Joe Jr and Joann (twins) and younger brother Jesse, by Lena's second marriage. Growing up in the small town of Bryan Tx John was always surrounded by his loving mother, brothers, sister and cousins but life was not always easy. At a young age he learned the the lesson of hard work and responsibility. Although dedicated to his family, John wanted to see more of the world outside of Bryan Tx so after graduating highschool John enlisted in the air force where he served for six years. It was at Edwards Air force base that John rose to the rank of sergeant it was also here that he met his best friend and brother for life, Juan Contreras (Johnny). Johnny introduced John to his San Jose CA family, parents, brother and three sisters. These beautiful loving people embraced John as a son, brother and uncle (Serge). This gift gave John his "new" family whose tight bond exists to this day. John's family also introduced him to Patricia Field.. Pat and John fell in love and were married in 1968. John became a husband to Pat and a father to seven children,. Eddie, Janet, Joann, Jodi, Patty, Anna and Theresa. With a large family to support John honorably Left the Air force and was employed by Peterbilt motors in Newark CA. John became a supervisor and worked for Peterbilt for 40 years. During this time he also earned his AA degree in business management at West valley college in Saratoga ca.In 1086 John's employer Peterbilt motors decided to downsize it's Newark plant while shifting operations to a new plant in Denton Texas. With the graduation of their youngest child and a chance to move back to Texas, John and Pat decided to sell their Santa Clara home and move. With sadness at leaving their San Jose family but also excitement,. John and Pat settled in Denton Tx. Although John had many hobee's like bowling, golf and NFL football, nothing compared to his deep devotion to his family, friends and faith. John's love of Jesus found a perfect home here in Denton,  immaculate conception church, and the Knights of Columbus. John's love of God was the fuel that sustained him after losing his mother, brothers and sister in Bryan, his daughter Joann and most recently Pat, his wife of 53 years in 2021. He is survived by his brother Juan, sister's in law Teresa, Geraldine, and Loretta, son Eddie, and daughters Janet, Jodi, Patty, Anna and Theresa as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and grand children. May he rest in peace and God bless.
