Jose Victor Lara, 64 of Sanger passed away on December 24, 2022 in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was born on July 13, 1958 in Arjonilla Spain, to Mariano Victor and Maria Herrera.

"Don Victor" dedicated his life to his family, his friends, and a love of the equestrian tradition. As a young man, he served in the Spanish military where he nurtured a love for horses and cultivated a spirit of service to those around him. Following the military, he married the love of his life and began working with a small company soon to be known as "Medieval Times". His work ethic, mastery of horsemanship, infectious personality, and natural talent to build a team resulted in an invitation to help the company expand to America. Don Victor took a leap of faith and moved to Florida with Rosa to open the first castle, then to California to open the second castle, where Marina and Jose were born. As the company expanded across the country, Don Victor was called upon time and time again to train the knights and equestrian professionals at every single castle. Don Victor ended his career as the first corporate horse trainer where he managed the 200+ acre Chapel Creek Ranch. Although Victor cherished his family and the company he helped build in America, his heart remained in Spain. Victor regularly returned to Spain to immerse his children in the traditions of his home and spend cherished time with his family. Victor will be most missed for his fiery personality, dedication to those he loved, and an inextinguishable sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Victor of Sanger; daughter, Marina Brown and husband Logan of Kailua, Hawaii; son Jose Victor, Jr., of Sanger; mother, Maria Lara Harrera; sisters, Raquel Victor, Encarna Victor, Ana Victor, and Isabel Victor all of Spain; brothers, Louis Victor and Alfonzo Victor also of Spain.

He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Mariano Victor.

The family will receive friends and have a Memorial Service on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 11:00 Am – 2:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
