Joseph Craig, 82, of Denton, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2022, in Denton. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on September 2,1940, to Robert and Annie Craig.

Joe grew up in the small village of Springburn near Glasgow. He worked as a machinist then later a union representative. He also worked in Berlin, but he spent most of his working years in Australia, where he made close friends who were like family to him. He loved to visit with his friends, telling stories, singing songs, and occasionally enjoying a fine Scotch whiskey.

In 2003, Joe met Bettie Garner of Denton. They soon married, and Joe emigrated to the United States to live with Bettie. He was very proud of obtaining his United States citizenship. Since they were both retired, they took many trips and traveled the world together. They loved cruises, and they loved visiting their many friends and family all over Texas and Australia.

Bettie and Joe were both diagnosed with cancer this past summer during the same week of July. Bettie died at the hospital on December 14, early in the morning, and Joe died a few hours later at their home, both under hospice care and surrounded by loved ones.

Joe is survived by stepdaughter Tiffany Sedate and husband Sonny of Oak Point, stepdaughter Paige Bresnahan and husband Steve of Denton; stepson Jay Garner and wife Amanda of Aledo; and eight step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Denton, Texas, on December 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
