IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melba T.
Stevenson
April 15, 1935 – October 16, 2020
Melba T. Stevenson 85 of Sanger went to her Heavenly home Friday night, October 16, 2020. She was born April 15, 1935 in San Saba, TX to Filmore and Mittie Odell Mabry Vaughn. She married Olin Bill Stevenson on September 14, 1952. They were married for 57 years when Olin preceded her in death on February 21, 2010. They were members of the New Beginnings Assembly of God Church. She taught Sunday School and Children's Church for many years. She was retired from Victor Equipment.
Thelma was so special to so many, there are a lifetime of memories and stories to be told as her family and friends remember her remarkable life. She was a faithful woman of God and had a heart of a servant. She was a godly woman who knew hardship, heartache, and disappointment, but it was her faith, prayers, and love for Jesus that kept her strong, kept her grateful for every day. She loved her family so deeply, was so proud of each child, each grandchild, and each great grandchild. She prayed without ceasing over each of them. Spending the night with her, you would often hear her prayers coming from her bedroom. When she got tickled, she would curl her hand in a soft fist, cover her mouth, and her shoulders would shake. Before you knew it, she had everyone in the room laughing with her. Hospitable and gracious, Thelma was the perfect hostess. When you went to her house for a meal, it was a feast; the absolute best food came from her kitchen. She made sure everyone was served before she sat down at the table with us. Serving others was her love language. She was Thelma, Momma, Nanny, she was the heart of her family and she will be missed beyond measure.
The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Tuesday night from 5-7:00 p.m. for visitation. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
