Nancy Kamp, 93 of Denton passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. She was born on October 12, 1923 in Conway, Arkansas to Felice Newton Harton and Dr. William Martin Harton.

Nancy grew up in Conway, Arkansas, a member of the large and well known Harton family. She graduated from Hendix College in Conway with a degree in Economics. She grew up attending the Methodist Church in Conway and has been a member of the First Methodist Church in Denton since 1949.

Nancy married her childhood sweetheart, Wib Kamp, on October 11, 1944. After living in New York while Wib completed his PhD at Columbia University, they moved to Denton for a "temporary stay" at North Texas State University (now University of North Texas). They planned to stay in Denton for only a few years, but fell in love with the university and Denton Communities. Nancy and Wib shared 68 years together before he passed away in 2012. They enjoyed traveling together and University of North Texas events, including women's and men's basketball games and numerous jazz, classical and various other musical presentations. She enjoyed playing bridge with her "buddies" most of all.

Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pete Kamp and David Gosdin, and son, Bill and Kathy Kamp. She is also survived by granddaughters, Andrea Edge and husband Robert, Nancy and Chris Wigggins, Vicky Kamp and David Mauldwin, Amy Gosdin, grandsons, Daniel Gary, Matt Gosdin and wife Sarah, and 5 great grandsons.

She is preceded in death by husband, Wib and two daughters, Margaret Kamp and Linda Gary.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Denton. The Revered Don Lee will officiate. Arrangements will be by DeBerry Funeral Home.

A reception will be will be held at the church after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Denton , The Salvation Army of Denton , or to a charity of your choice.
