Roland Perry Ridge II, 72, of Denton, Texas passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2021 in Denton, TX. He was in the presence of his loving family, numerous friends and law enforcement officers.

Roland was born on December 28, 1948 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Roland Perry Ridge and Julia Ann (Shattuck) Ridge. Roland graduated  in 1967 from Amber Pocasset High School in Amber, OK. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University, Cameron University and North Central Texas College earning a degree in Criminal Justice.

He spent his entire life honorably and tirelessly serving his country.  He spent 6 yrs in the U.S. Army National Guard, 4 yrs as a Deputy Sheriff in Grady County, OK, 30 plus years as a Deputy Sheriff for the Denton County Sheriff's Department.  Most recently, he served as a Police Officer for North Central Texas College. He was a devoted husband and loving father, installing the highest integrity and morals in his children, and touching the lives of everyone that knew him. He was a mentor and father figure to numerous law enforcement officers. He was the friend that you always knew would be there.  Roland was an incredibly talented woodworker, and carpenter.  He was an extremely proud tribal member of the Choctaw Indian Nation of Oklahoma. There was nothing that he couldn't fix, nor anyone he wouldn't help.   The depth and breadth of Roland's soul and heart is indescribable, and words do not do it justice.

Roland is survived by his wife, Deborah Ridge of Denton, TX; his children, Rodney and spouse Cody, Angela, Charissa, Heath, Devonna, Haley and spouse Chris; his son-n-law, Glen Erkenbrack; his brother, Ross and spouse Deanna, Larry Ridge; his sisters, Sara Drake and spouse Gary, Lanelle Shelton and spouse Fred; his grandchildren, Kylie, Rylan, Brooklynn, Tristan, Ava, Hallie, Sydney, and Parker.  As well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Ann (Shattuck Ridge); and his father, Roland Ridge Sr.

The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 5PM – 7PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, TX. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 10:00 am at Denton Bible Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  A family meal will be served at Denton Bible following the interment.
