Ronnie Lynn Farris Sr., 76 of Sanger, passed away on April 9, 2023, at his home. He was born in Bakersfield, California on September 3, 1946, to Homer and Betty (Smith) Farris.
Ronnie grew up in Crowder, Oklahoma where he attended grade school and high school. He also received an Associates of Science at Cooke County College. After high school he joined the military where he was stationed in Germany for 3 years. After returning home from the army, he met and married his wife Billie Spawn of Shady Shores, Texas on October 4, 1968 in Corinth, Texas and celebrated 54 years together. They welcomed 3 sons together along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Ronnie went to work for the City of Denton as an animal control officer as well as a reserve police officer. He eventually transferred from animal control to the Denton Water Plant then to the Denton Power Plant. From there he began his career in law enforcement starting in the City of Corinth. While at Corinth he served as a patrolman, sergeant, and chief of police. Ronnie also served as patrol and as sergeant at Lake Dallas Police Department. He went on to work for Denton County at pct 1 as a deputy constable then as sergeant, as well at pct 2. Ronnie spent the rest of his career at pct 1 as Chief Deputy Constable until retirement in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Farris, sons; Ronnie Farris Jr., and his wife, Kelli, Teddy Farris and his wife, Charmin, Michael Farris and his wife, Tiffany, grandchildren, Chala Keeney and husband Kelly, Miranda Farris, Ryan Farris, Chandler Coursey and fiancé Nick Thompson, Baron Bailey, Kiersten Murray, Zach Farris, Braxton Farris, and Adaline Farris, great grandchildren, Carson Keeney, Kason Keeney, Kennedy Keeney, and Caden Keeney. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and granddaughter Alyssa Farris.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, from 6-8PM at Bolivar Baptist Church in Bolivar, TX. Funeral services will be held at Bolivar Baptist Church on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sanger Cemetery in Sanger Texas.
