Woodrow Wayne Hassell, 81, of Krum, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his home. He was born on December 1, 1939 in Dallas County, Texas to Millard Woodrow and Dorothy Mae Hassell.

Wayne attended Denton schools. He joined the United States Army and served from 1963 – 1965.

Wayne met Cynthia Ann Harris at College View Baptist Church in Denton and they married on November 1, 1966. They went on to have three children together, Jeremy, Amy and Kammy.

He worked for several news stations around DFW and retired from the University of North Texas, where he was a technical engineer and instructor in the radio, TV, film department.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Hassell, and his wife of 54 years, Cynthia Hassell. He is survived by his children, Jeremy Hassell and wife, Renee, Amy Dixon and husband, Ed, and Kammy Sears and husband, Mike.  He also had five grandsons, Jacob Dixon, Jace Hassell, Clay Sears, Blake Hassell and Micah Dixon.

Family will receive friends at Gracepointe Church on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 beginning at 10:00 A.M. The celebration of life will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Smith and Chris Pope officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, also in Denton.  Pallbearers will be Jacob Dixon, Jace Hassell, Clay Sears, Blake Hassell, Micah Dixon and Steve Workman.
