Bill DeBerry (Bill Jr.) has served the Denton area families since 1983. His upbringing with a father in the funeral service industry has given him a lifetime of being around the funeral home and families in need which helps him understand what families want in a funeral or memorial service.
Since the passing of his father, Bill, Jr. has continued the family tradition of personal service. His goal is to see that the following generations experience compassion and personal consideration when making arrangements for their loved one.

John Goobeck
Operations
John Goobeck, 66 was raised in a military family, where his father served 27 years in the US Army. He is a 1982 graduate of Cameron University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He is also a 1984 graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service and has been a licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer for over 40 years.
He has (2) children, Sarah and Matt and (1) granddaughter, Sydney.
John is currently on the Board of Directors for Cremation Association of North America and recently nominated as Third Vice President and Past President for the Texas Funeral Directors Association.
John retired as Vice President/Director in Charge from Greenwood Funeral Homes and Cremation after 38 years of service, and joined Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors in October of 2023. He was honored with the Ed. C. Smith Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding service to the Community and Texas Funeral Service for his unwavering compassion for Funeral Service

Andrew DeBerry

Andrew is a graduate of Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He is moving forward with keeping his fathers values in assisting families in their time of need. As a retired police officer he understands the sudden need of compassion and kindness at a moments notice. Andrew can assist with Pre-Planning and Funeral or Cremation arrangements. Justin DeBerry
Manager - Funeral Director
For those who may not know him, Justin DeBerry is honored to serve as the manager of his family’s funeral home.
As a third-generation funeral director, he has spent the past 13 years working alongside his family and serving the families in his community.
Justin is a graduate of the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service and is also licensed in preneed sales.
Justin truly loves what he does. He finds great meaning in walking alongside families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives—to listen, to help, to answer questions, and to ensure their loved ones are cared for with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Being part of a family-owned funeral home makes that responsibility even more personal. Justin is proud of the legacy that was built before him, grateful for the lessons passed down through generations, and committed to carrying that tradition forward while continuing to serve his community in the best way he can.
Outside of the funeral home, Justin’s greatest joy is his family. He is a proud dad of three children and cherishes the time he gets to spend with them. His family reminds him every day of just how precious life, family, and the memories we make truly are.

Amelia (Slimp) McLearen
Administration
Amelia is a valuable asset to our firm, bringing years of experience, knowledge, and dedication to the funeral service profession. She began working in the funeral industry in 2016 and takes great pride in serving families with the kindness, compassion, dignity, and respect they deserve during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Amelia serves as our Office Administrator and plays an important role in keeping the day-to-day operations of the funeral home running efficiently and smoothly. She handles all death certificates, working closely with physicians to ensure they are completed and filed in a timely manner. She also handles cremation permits, coordinates the scheduling of cremations and the return of cremated remains to families, and assists families with life insurance policy claims. In addition, Amelia is responsible for the production of memorial products provided for services.
Her experience in funeral service extends well beyond the office. Amelia spent several years performing removals and bringing loved ones into the care of the funeral home. During that time, she also assisted the Denton County Medical Examiner’s Office on death scenes, giving her experience with another important aspect of death care. Her varied background has given her a unique understanding of the funeral profession, from the initial call through the administrative details necessary to bring a family’s arrangements to completion.
Those who work with Amelia know her for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, compassion, and willingness to go the extra mile to make sure things are handled correctly. She understands that even the administrative details behind a funeral service are an important part of caring for a family, and she takes that responsibility to heart. She strives to be someone both families and her colleagues can depend on when it matters most.
Outside of the funeral home, Amelia is a devoted wife and proud mother of three daughters. She is also an avid true crime enthusiast and has a deep appreciation for the history of funeral service, which she enjoys exploring through her collection of antique funeral home and mortuary items. Family is an important part of her life and contributes to the compassion and understanding she brings to the families she serves.
After a decade in funeral service, Amelia continues to find meaning in helping others and takes great pride in serving her community and being a trusted part of the team at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors.
